A major US packaging supplier approached the team at OneBoxVision with a challenge. The client had a stock of older presses equipped with vision systems that the suppliers would not support anymore. They were deemed obsolete. OneBoxVision surveyed the equipment and specified a state of the art upgrade using commercial off the shelf components that the user could source in the US. The target lines were equipped with a complete new set of vision systems at close to 50% of the cost of purchasing replacements from the incumbent suppliers. This allowed the client to spend more on training and validation so as to ensure the equipment was used to it's potential.
The equipment installed on Flexo and RotaGravure printing presses included 100% color inspection designed to work with stretching films on old presses, job control and matrix viewing cameras to enable high resolution display of register and ink lay down. The team at OneBoxVision used it's own software solution PackFlow , a set of print inspection algorithms optimized to automatically deal with stretch , metallic inks and clear films. The solution included commercial cameras line scan cameras and LED lights from Chromasens and processing hardware from Bitflow, that is well supported globally. This approach enables converters deploy high performance solutions at a lower cost with reduced risk.
